The 2023 Andes Central Homecoming Candidates for King and Queen are seniors Cole Bergin, Carlin Hopkins, Anaias White Eyes, Riata Bultje, Claire Johnson and Nevaeh Morgan. Coronation will be held Thursday, October 5th at 7:15 p.m. Candidates are selected by their fellow senior class members and are elected by the voting of the high school student body. The AC/DC Thunder ran at the Fish Lake Golf Course (Plankinton), Wednesday, September 20th. Eilie DeHaan finished 5th with a time of 21:28.8 in the varsity race. The JV and MS all ran 3,000M. In the JV race, Luke Dangel finished 2nd with a time of 12:45.9, Renner DeHaan was 7th with a time of 14:09, and finishing 2nd for the girls was Kora Backes with a time of 15:14.4. In the middle school race, Tristan Backes and James Derry finished 2nd and 4th with times of 12:53.9 and 14:33.3. On the girls side, Makayla Jones and Carmela Gravatt were 2nd and 3rd with times of 14:49.9 and 14:53.4. Scarlett Cole finished in 11th place with a time of 16:50.1.

To its owner, the FFA jacket is a physical reminder of the personal accomplishments achieved through the organization - a symbol of commitment and dedication for all who wear the corduroy. This fall, a record number 450 South Dakota FFA members from 84 chapters, will receive their own FFA jackets - carrying forward that long-standing tradition of pride, dignity and honor. Jackets were sponsored by various individuals through the SD FFA Foundation program, welcoming new members into the fabric of FFA. FFA members filled out the Blue Jackets Bright Futures FFA Jacket Program application, answering short essay questions about their FFA experience and goals, competing to earn their own FFA jacket instead of purchasing one. 2023 local recipients are:

comes to Andes Central from the Chamberlain School District where she was first a first-grade teacher and then became the seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher. Eidsness was born and raised in Hartford. She is the oldest of three children. Her younger sister is a massage therapist in Sioux Falls and her brother is currently a student at the University of South Dakota (USD). Teela is the name of her cat. When Brooke is not teaching, she enjoys time on the river, reading, and spending time with friends. She loves anything and everything Harry Potter and one item on her bucket list is to travel to every continent. She has been to North America, South American and Europe so far.
