Weekly report #2 Last Friday was our first Education Committee meeting. There are 13 standing committees, and they are assigned bills by the Speaker that come to his attention in the House. We discussed HB1002 which said that all certified educators must take a course in Indian Studies.

This spring semester of the 2024-2025 school year, the Eagle Eats program will take flight. The organization which is now a part of the Lake Andes Food and Wellness Council, has recently sent out registration forms as well as an online link to sign up to receive a monthly weekend food bag.
Carmindy Joy Ferwerda was born on June 12, 2007 to Angie and Randy Ferwerda. Carmindy has one sibling named Justin. In her free time, she enjoys showing beef cattle, dairy cattle, and dairy goats in 4H.
Ashley Maire Tolsma is the daughter of Jeff Tolsma and Misty Hanvey and the stepdaughter of Joe Hanvey. Ashley has ten siblings: Kim, Beau, Cameron, Chapin, Cale, Charlie, Dylan, Jake, Cody, and Katlyn.
With the second semester under way, we at the Jolly Roger thought it would be interesting to survey the students at Avon High School and determine how many students traveled instate (bar 1), how many stayed home (bar 2) and how many left the state (bar 3)!
