The Wednesday, March 13, 2019 Rotary lunch meeting was called to order by President Jerry Weber. Prayer was led by Rotarian Pastor Laurie. Our guest, Kate Waligoske, was welcomed to the meeting. 19 Rotarians and 1 guest were in attendance. Ken Cotton shared the Membership Moment.

UPCOMING BLOOD DRIVE

LifeServe Blood Center, the sole supplier of blood products to more than 120 hospitals in South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska, urgently needs donors to give blood to increase the local blood supply.

RIVERS MICHAEL BEESON

Birth annoucements Ryan and Brittany Beeson of Wagner are happy to announce the birth of their son, Rivers Michael, born January 9, 2019 in Yankton. He weighed six pounds 13 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long. He joins big brother Carter at home.

Greer Post #11 American Legion

Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting February 21, 2019 at the Post home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Acting Chaplain Mark Wiechmann gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

AREA RECOVERS FROM "BOMB CYLONE"

Snow, rain, thunder, lightning, high winds, blizzard...we seem to have experienced it all in the surrounding area during the final winter storm that hit last week referred to as the "bomb cyclone".

LIBRARY NEWS

The Lake Andes Carnegie Public Library is currently completing the state mandated Library survey. Facts and figures on what we have done at the library during 2018 are put together with all public libraries across the state of South Dakota.

VIDEO LOTTERY REVENUES REBOUND, BUT ONLY AFTER TAKING HEAVY HIT

Eight years after a smoking ban dealt South Dakota video lottery owners a heavy blow, the industry has quietly remade itself, last year recording nearly its highest revenue in 30 years. The games brought in $221 million in fiscal 2018, substantially higher than the $176.

PAY NOW OR LATER

Taxpayers often ask, “Should I contribute to my traditional IRA or my Roth IRA?” This is really a question of when should I pay the tax, now or later? Contributions to a traditional IRA are deducted from income. Contributions to a Roth IRA do not affect an income tax filing.

This Week in The March 6th Wagner Rotary Club meeting began with our new member Pastor Bill Herrmann offering up the blessing. There was only one guest today in contrast with last week’s larger attendance. Dr. Koenig introduced another medical student who is on rotation at WCMH, Kate Waligoske.
