Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting February 21, 2019 at the Post home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Acting Chaplain Mark Wiechmann gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.

Adjutant Clayton Rados read the minutes of the January 17 meeting which were approved as read.

The cooks for the evening were given a nice round of applause for the excellent supper that was served.

Committee reports were given as follows:

Treasurer Dan Gruenwald distributed a financial report for the month of January to all members, which was approved as given.

Service Officer Merle Stone reported several get well and sympathy cards have been sent out during the month.

Commander Kucera reported bingo before Easter needs more players. Also asked for volunteers to work bingo's on Sunday afternoons.

Commander Kucera reported that new inserts were put in the bathroom stools to hopefully stop loss of water.

A motion to finish replacing the counter-top in the kitchen were approved.

Sales on American Legion Sweepstakes tickets were going well. Clay Creek Deaf Cowboy band from Vermillion will play.

Commander Kucera reported spring district #8 meeting will be March 24 in yankton at the NFAA Building. Social at 1 p.m., meeting at 2 p.m., with a light lunch afterwards.

Dennis Clemens brought in a casket flag.

Anton Krcil was selected for Legionnaire of the Year.

Motion to donate $50 to the After Prom Committee.

Jerald Ehrisman discussed the need for a handicap zone on the west of our Post. More discussion next month.

Discussed doing our 100th birthday celebration of the American Legion with our Labor Day Festivities.

Melvin Horner reported Bomgaars has a 10% discount for veterans.

Go-Getter pins for renewing members and getting new members were presented to several members. Several special state commander cap pins were presented to members who do military rites at t a veterans funeral.

Acting Chaplain Wiechmann gave the final prayer.
