AVON CITY COUNCIL DISCUSS VARIOUS AGENDA

Present were Mike Petrik, Mayor; Alderman Dodge, Tjeerdsma, M Petrik and Berndt and street commissioner, Kocmich. Public included Johnny Swatek, Julie Tolsma, Ilene Muller, Blake Harms and Bradley Voigt. Agenda was approved after the addition of Executive Session at end of meeting.

Fall always puts me in a literary mood, perhaps because the South Dakota Festival of Books is held in late September or early October. I relish the opportunity to listen to writers discuss their books and always leave inspired to work on new projects.

October 1911 A61 pound squash is on exhibit at the German Bank. It was grown by John Van Gerpen. Siegel Green had a colt severely cut in a barb wire fence. It's about time to set the heater, juggle the stove pipe and hear your wife scold. George Jurrens sold 50 bu.

Fire Prevention/Safety Week was observed this past October 3rd - 9th. This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign was “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!” It works to educate everyone about the different sounds the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms make.
