Fire Prevention/Safety Week was observed this past October 3rd - 9th. This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign was “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!” It works to educate everyone about the different sounds the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms make.

Knowing what to do when an alarm sounds will keep you and your family safe. When an alarm makes noises – a beeping sound or a chirping sound – you must take action.

Students went over fire safety and prevention actions in the classroom and on Wednesday Oct. 6th Bon Homme Electric also put on an electrical safety demonstration for all Avon students. They had a presentation open to the public at 11 a.m.

During their presentation they used a hot dog and oranges to show students what an electrical shock could do to the body. They also showed the danger of getting fishing lines, branches and more too close to power lines.
