AVON CITY COUNCIL DISCUSS VARIOUS AGENDA
Present were Mike Petrik, Mayor; Alderman Dodge, Tjeerdsma, M Petrik and Berndt and street commissioner, Kocmich. Public included Johnny Swatek, Julie Tolsma, Ilene Muller, Blake Harms and Bradley Voigt.
Agenda was approved after the addition of Executive Session at end of meeting.
Minutes from previous meetings were approved along with the bills for the month of September. Receipts were not approved as they were unavailable at meeting time.
Committee Reports - Randy Berndt reported hearing a lot of good feedback on Main Street Project. No other committee reports.
During public time, Blake Harms gave the council forms to be signed for Main Street and a handout showing a projection that the project likely will come in under the projected cost.
Tolsma and Swatek expressed that the bill they received for connecting their businesses to the city system was a lot more than they had anticipated. The council will check into it, as well as those of the Tanning Shop, First Presbyterian Church and the sewing shop on Main Street.
Bradley Voigt and Ilene Muller stated that it is nice to have Main Street open again.
No Old Business.
The city received the deed for the baseball field arrangement.
The first reading of Ordinance #347 - An Ordinance of the City of Avon Creating Provisions for the Mayor of Avon to Continue the Role of the Police Chief of Avon in the Absence of an employee in that role was agreed to.
The first reading of Ordinance to Amend Ordinance #323 - Rules Pertaining to Dog Licenses, Definitions of a Nuisance Dog behavior and Removal or Destruction of a Dog was agreed to.
The Mayor and Council are getting a quote for a new canopy on the west side of the city office and library. They are also getting a quote for hand rails at the clinic.
The council decided to hold off on bidding for the reclaimed concrete until November and plan to open bids at the December meeting.
The city attorney arrived and gave the council some informational handouts to consider before the second reading of the Ordinances #347 and #348.
There was discussion on a couple of property nuisance complaints. The owners will be contacted.
