The Charles Mix County 4-H Achievement Days are just around the corner—August 2, 5, and 6, 2022. Achievement Days are held at the 4-H Center/ Fairgrounds in Lake Andes. Remember to come and join us for the 4-H BBQ Friday, August 5th from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial for Priscilla Lee, 76, of Sioux Falls was held Tuesday, July 19 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. Burial was in the Marty Catholic cemetery. Peters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Over 30 VFW 2022 Voice of Democracy state winners traveled to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, to attend the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge’s Spirit of America Youth Leadership program.

Jul. 14—MITCHELL — The South Dakota Department of Transportation's plan to reconfigure a portion of Highway 46 stretching through Wagner into a three-lane road has sparked strong opposition among some Wagner residents.

The 15th annual Wagner Cancer Walk will be held on August 13th at Wagner Lake. The free will supper will begin a little later this year at 6:30 until 7:30. Cancer survivors are encouraged to be there at 7:30 for a survivor picture and prayer before the walk begins.

Back when I last fished Saskatchewan’s Lake Besnard in the mid-nineties, the plentiful walleyes ran about 15 inches in length with a 17 inch fish being exceptional. This year our Kisch family group netted two fish over 25 inches with numerous fish running over 23 inches. How does one explain this?

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, July 22 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. This will continue to be a “drive-thru” distribution.

WALL, SD – Katie Gretschmann will receive a $1,000 Golden West scholarship for 2022. A 2022 graduate of Avon High School, Katie’s school activities include basketball, volleyball, track and field, softball, choir, and student council.

Wagner Speedway Promoter, Reese Powers commented on the Speedway action saying, "the racing season has been great so far! We have had a few nights where we needed to cancel due to weather but other than that all has been good!
