Hello District 19 residents. We are halfway through session, and things are moving along well. Counting this week, we have four weeks left of session to get our work done for the next year.

Several constituents of District19appearedtotestify incommitteethisweek.Iwas fortunatetositonthosecommittees and support them. SB 77 an act to reinstate the restrictedrealestatebrokers license for auctioneers and revise real estate licensing.

Our country continues to face serious challenges. Inflation is straining family budgets, especially at the grocery store. The prices for electricity, gas, and home heating have increased. Record numbers of illegal immigrants have come across the southern border.

You’ve heard me talk a lot over the years about helping foster families so that we can build stronger families across our state. In situations where parents aren’t able to take care of their kids, foster familiesstepuptofillthevoid.

Avon and Springfield EMTs will be attending a training Monday night, February 13th for South Dakota EMS: Telemedicine in Motion. EMS is a new program designed to provide telemedicine services to EMS agencies throughout the state of South Dakota.

We have now moved passed the halfway point of the SD Legislative Session. The most difficult part of the session is still ahead, and we will be setting our budget priorities. We look to the future with the requests far exceeding the anticipated revenue we will receive.
