Several constituents of District19appearedtotestify incommitteethisweek.Iwas fortunatetositonthosecommittees and support them. SB 77 an act to reinstate the restrictedrealestatebrokers license for auctioneers and revise real estate licensing. SB 77 passed committee and was sent to the consent calendar. Also, in Commerce and Energy was HB 1135 an act to provide transparency in the pricing of prescription drugs. We were fortunate to have one of our local pharmacists, Eric Grocott lead the proponent testimony. I thankhimforhisknowledge, leadership and dedication to South Dakotans and those efforts yielded a 12-0 do pass motion and will move to the full House of Representatives.
Tabor’s 74th Czech Days were honored and celebrated with the presence of the Czech Days Royalty. I enjoyed meeting them and their parents while learning more about them and their Czech Heritage. A fun fact toshare…lastsummerwhile visiting Tabor I purchased the beginning of my kroj andlookforwardtospending time in Tabor June 16-17 and hope you can join too. Hanson High School seniors and their government class toured the capitol and witnessed the lawmaking process. It is so important to witness the process firsthand for these children to get a new understanding of government.
As a military wife, it has been an honor to work with the Dept. of Military to sponsor a billforthem.TheSDAmerican LegionandAuxiliaryMembers hosted legislators to show their support of several bills including mine. HB 1048 has nowpassedtheHouseofRepresentatives, the Senate and will move to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.
Session is now halfway through; we are 6 legislative days away from crossover day. Crossoverdayisthelastdayfor abillmovefromthechamberor origin. We have much work to be done in those 6 days.
