A well-established non-profit service organization that serves both Wagner and Lake Andes is the Rural Office of Community Services (ROCS). ROCS has been a private, non-profit organization agency that has been serving the Charles-Mix area since 1981.

The Wagner American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting their annual Soup and Sandwich Luncheon with a Bake Sale and Raffle at the Legion Hall in Wagner on Thursday April 11. Serving will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Local photographer, Katie Swatek Hjelm recently had one of the pictures she photographed featured on the cover of SeniorInspire Magazine. SeniorInspire Magazine is a magazine utilized by photographers that dedicate much of their work to photographing high school seniors.

10 Years Ago – 2014 Avon American Legion Commander, Kenny Powers, awarded Lester Gramkow, Clayton Wittmeier and Jim Yonkers with 60-year membership certificates. The first week of April saw spring storms with snow and 50-60 mile per hour winds.

The Avon School Board will be holding an election to select two of the five candidates running for a three-year term on the board. The election will be held on April 9th from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The polling place of the Avon School District will be held at the Avon Community Fire Hall.

The Avon Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday morning. The mud didn't spoil the fun, they moved it to the Fire Hall and gave each child a bag of goodies and filled their baskets with eggs. Photos by Jenna Petrik

Riata Bultje recently received two scholarships through FFA. The first scholarship she received was the Ag Education/ Gary Grey Scholarship for $1000. She also received the SD Corn Utilization Council Scholarship for $500. This scholarship is provided through their Star Partner Sponsorship.

Senior FFA member, Abigail Svatos has qualified for the state competition in FFA Career Development Events (CDEs) in the Natural Resources event. Abigail is the daughter of Ryan and Erica Svatos.
