In October of 1990 through May 1992, a study which was initiated by local request was conducted on Charles-Mix County Lake. The purpose of this study was to determine the water quality problems, identify pollution sources and develop lake specific restoration alternatives.
When seven-year-old, Ellie Leines, a second grader at Wagner Community School heard that the Needy Nook in Marty was in need of food donations, she felt sad. Ellie was sad that some people might not have any food, and she wanted to be able to help them.
Wagner Community School officially changed its booster club fundraising program on August 1st for the 2024-2025 school year. What used to be individual booster clubs raising funds has since become the W Club which encompasses all of the WCS fundraising organizations.
LSS OARN, the Older Adult Resource Network serving Douglas and Charles Mix counties, is pleased to announce Jacqueline Johnson as the new OARN Program Coordinator.
Come on out to the County Fair August 8th and 9th. On the 8th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be food trucks and a community BBQ at 5:00 p.m. with a watermelon eating contest, the beef show and sheep show are held that day, with shows starting at noon. On the 9th from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
As of 2022, the Charles-Mix County Fair Board has reorganized in order to bring back the Charles-Mix County Fair that was always held in conjunction with the Charles-Mix County 4-H Achievement Days. The first Charles-Mix County Fair since its dissipation was held last year in 2023.

Joe Stedronsky has been a part of the Wagner community for the past 96 years. He was born in 1928 at the hospital in Wagner. Joe was the oldest of four children born to Ed and Helen Stedronsky. He was joined by younger siblings, Vernon, Rose Marie and Francis.
