Ciara Nelson will be traveling to Pierre to work as a page while our state’s Congress is in session. Each legislative session, high school students from across South Dakota have an opportunity for a firsthand look at the legislative process by serving as pages for the South Dakota Legislature.

The Bon Homme Community Choir Officers are making plans for the 2021 Easter Cantata performances. Plan to join us Sunday January 31st, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Avon. We will discuss how we can keep everyone safe, while sharing the Hope of our Lord.

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The following student graduated after the summer and fall 2020 semesters at South Dakota State University. The student completed all requirements for a degree and/or certificate program and those requirements have been verified by the appropriate college.

MADISON, S.D., January 19, 2021 — A total of 572 full-time and 173 part-time students qualified for the President’s Academic Honors list for the 2020 fall semester at Dakota State University (DSU) in Madison. Among the full-time students achieving a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.

More than 2,100 students at the University of South Dakota are being honored for their high achievement during the fall 2020 semester with the release of the Dean’s List and Academic Honors. Full-time, undergraduate students are named to the Dean’s List if they received a 3.

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, January 22 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon.

The City of Lake Andes will hold a public meeting on January 25, 2021 at 7:00 pm at the Lake Andes Community Building to discuss the Fireworks Ordinance. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss potential changes to the Ordinance.

1991 - 30 Years Ago Gladys and Wood Hinkhouse, who were married January 19, 1939 and Vern and Bud Hinkhouse, married January 14,1939 celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Keith and Mary Dumdei are the proud parents of a son, Nicholas Keith, born December 31st.
