The Summer Reading Program kicked off on Monday, June 6 at the library. The theme for the week was "Oceans of Possibilities". They had a huge turnout with 58 young children and 20 older kids and adults. Mary Lukkes was the guest reader.

Bon Homme County 4-H horse members will be participating in the 2022 Bon Homme & Charles Mix County Horse Show at the 7-N Horse Arena in Springfield on Tuesday, June 28th. This is a combined county show. Registration will start at 9 a.m. with the show to start at 9:30 a.m.

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, June 24 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. This will continue to be a “drive-thru” distribution until further notice.

June 14, 2022, Flag Day, the day deemed as a date when Flag burning ceremonies may be held across the country, found a Flag burning ceremony held in Lake Andes. The ceremony was held at 7:00 on the lot located north of the four way stop on Main Street.

More than 500 Vietnam veterans, including one from South Dakota, will be inducted into the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s (VVMF) In Memory Program in 2022.

The Library Board meeting had to be postponed for our scheduled meeting date of June 14th and will now be held on June 22nd at 4:45 at the library. The meeting is open to the public. Programming for children ages Kindergarten through 12th grade is now into the 3rd week of activities.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) encourages all farmers, ranchers, and FSA program participants to take part in the Charles Mix County Committee election nomination process.
