“Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Programming is in the books at the Library. Over 40 children participated sometime during the program running Monday-Friday, from June 6-July 25th. Children are now working to complete the required summer reading part of the program.

Cheyenne Simmermon would like to announce the arrival of her brother, Landan Michael Simmermon who arrived on July 8, 2022 at 1:53 p.m. Landan weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces and was 21” long. Proud parents are Timothy and Nichole Simmermon of Mitchell.

CAYLA NELSON IS THE NEW NAM SD TEEN 2022

Cayla Nelson, daughter of Mark and Laura Nelson of Lake Andes, has the title of “NAM SD Teen 2022” after winning the competition this past weekend. She will be the first ever to compete for the nation representing South Dakota in Orlando, Florida over Thanksgiving weekend.

SERVICE CONNECTED PRESUMPTIVE DISABILITIES

Presumptive diseases may manifest themselves years after the veteran’s military service ended, but are presumed to be related to his or her service. Of particular interest to our Vietnam veterans and certain veterans who served in Korea is Agent Orange exposure.

AUGUST MENNO PIONEER OPRY

The August Menno Pioneer Opry will be held 7 PM, August 5, at the big barn at the Menno Pioneer Acres. As usual, the program is free and open to the public with a freewill offering taken at intermission and a potluck lunch of finger foods. The program will be over by 9 PM.

PURPLE HEART RECOGNITION DAY

At the request of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, Governor Kristi Noem has proclaimed Sunday, August 7, 2022, as “Purple Heart Recognition Day,” calling on all South Dakotans to honor those men and women who are recipients of the Purple Heart Medal.

President Rachel Woods called her second weekly meeting of the Wagner Rotary Club to order on Wednesday July 27th. There were no extra guests, just those present for the program so Pastor Bill heermann gave thanks for the day and the food and fellowship.

Wagner Swimming Pool Fundraising presented a Movie Night at Wagner Speedway Saturday evening. A great group of volunteers came out to put up a large screen and offered concessions for movie watchers.

BROWN PELICAN SIGHTED IN SOUTH DAKOTA

This Brown Pelican is visiting the Fort Randall Dam area near Pickstown. There have only been seven sightings of the Brown Pelican in South Dakota. They normally live along the southern and western sea coasts are rarely seen inland.
