AVON MUSIC DEPARTMENT SPRING CONCERT DATE CHANGE

The Avon Music Department had to change the date of their Spring Concert due to getting the gym prepped for Prom. The original date was March 21st, but it has been changed to March 18th.

ANDES CENTRAL SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

This week’s featured Andes Central Senior is Riata Bultje. Riata is the daughterofBriceandDarci Bultje. She has two younger sisters at Andes Central, Emery and Marin. During her high school years, Riata has been involved in volleyball, track, FFA, FCCLA, band, choir and National Honor Society.

Rotary News

A strong whack of the Rotary Bell brought a smaller group of Rotarians to order on the first Wednesday of January 2024. Rotarian Bryan Slaba oversaw the meeting as President Brunsing was absent due to work commitments.

HUDSON'S JOURNEY UPDATE

When the first article about Hudson Wince was published on October 4th of 2023, he was preparing for his second open heart surgery at just under three months of age. Hudson underwent his second surgery called The Glenn on October 31st.

ANNUAL SD PICNIC

The 70th annual SD Picnic in Florida will be held February 24 at 12 noon at the Grace Lutheran Church fellowship hall in Lakeland, FL. All former South Dakotans, either permanent or seasonal residents are invited to attend with their family.

DAKOTA STATE 2023 FALL ACADEMIC HONORS LIST RELEASED

MADISON, S.D., January 5, 2024 – A total of 702 full-time and 183 part-time students qualified for the President’s Academic Honors list for the 2023 fall semester at Dakota State University (DSU) in Madison. The following local full-time students achieved a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.

FEEDING SOUTH DAKOTA

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held Friday, Jan. 26 at the Scotland Community Church at 8:45 a.m.; the Tyndall Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. and at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. PLEASE NOTE: Proxy pickup (picking up food for someone unable to attend) is allowed with a completed form.

SWEET CLOVER 4-H NEWS

The Sweet Clover 4-H club met Dec 3, 2023, at 6 p.m. President Maddy called the meeting to order. Flag Pledges were led by Lucy and Josie Schloss. Roll call topic was "What's your favorite number?" and 13 members were present. The secretary's report was given by Whitley Wolf.
