Kathryn Stedronsky, 97, formerly of Lake Andes, died at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 29, at 1:00 p.m., at First Lutheran Church in Lake Andes with burial following in Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Andes. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes.

Kathryn Stedronsky was born on August 21, 1921 to Marinus and Rolena (Stadt) Bordewyk in Corsica. She graduated from Corsica High School in 1939, then attended Southern State Normal College in Springfield. She worked for Boeing during World War II as "Rosie the Riveter" in Washington. She returned to South Dakota and attended Southern State Normal College and received her Teacher's Certificate. She taught in a country school near Corsica. Longfellow Elementary School in Mitchell, country school near Lake Andes, and in 1966, started working at Lake Andes Elementary School until her retirement in 1985. She married Robert Stedronsky on June 24, 1955 in Lake Andes. Kathryn was a member of First Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide in Lake Andes, the Red Hatters, T.O.P.S., VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles and coloring. Robert died on 1993 and Kathryn continued living in Lake Andes until 2010 when she moved to Wesley Acres in Mitchell. She moved to Countryside Assisted Living in Mitchell in 2017 and finally to Firesteel Healthcare Center in 2018. Kathryn died at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the age of 97.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Julie) Stedronsky of Mitchell, and two sisters, Joy (Ben) Hassler and Arlene Plotter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Art Bordewyk, three sisters, Lucille De Boer, Hermann Hoekman, Geneva Walker, three nephews and two nieces.
