The Wagner JV boys had a 18-7 lead after the first period against Gregory and led 18-10 at half time. Wagner struggled to score in the second half but played good enough defense to hold for a 26-23 win. Preston McFayden scored 12 points, Ted Slaba added 8 and Joey Cournoyer scored 6. The JV boys record is now 4-2.
Read moreThis week we would like to give a shout out to the local volunteer firemen. No matter the time or the weather, when the whistle blows they move into action to protect their district. The Lake Andes fire department has already been busy in the first couple weeks of the new year. They responded to a grass fire Southeast of Lake Andes on January 5th, with below zero wind chill. Read moreBlane Nagel and his family have been raising registered beef cattle and farming in Bon Homme County for 30+ years. Blane actively takes care of his grassland pastures utilizing rotational grazing and prescribed fire to keep the native rangeland healthy. Their operation also incorporates cover crops and cattle grazing on cropland to improve soil health. Over the years they have planted shelterbelts and installed erosion control structures. The Nagel family is well deserving of the 2020 Bon Homme County Conservation District Farmer of the Year Award.
