I’m presently engaged in a personal struggle of sorts. Not that I’m here to air my dirty laundry publicly, like so many now do, as though it were the new method for displaying one’s honor. “Truth in transparency” or whatever the saying is, meant to justify putting all the details of one’s personal life out there for God and anyone with an internet connection to see and offer comment. Maybe this is the same thing, but anyway, back to my personal struggle.

Read moreThe Summer Reading Program kicked off on Monday, June 6 at the library. The theme for the week was "Oceans of Possibilities". They had a huge turnout with 58 young children and 20 older kids and adults. Mary Lukkes was the guest reader. Read moreAvon’s 18U softball team traveled to Scotland on Sunday, June 5 for a doubleheader as part of Scotland Sports Day. In game one Avon unleashed the bats for 11 hits scoring runs in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings. Avon was led by Lydia Yost with 3 hits – including a double and 2 RBI. Katie Gretschmann, Sam Brodeen, and Reece Loewe each had 2 hits; with Brodeen and Loewe both having a double and 3 RBI. Emma Yost had a hit and a RBI and Kinley Doom singled in the game. Lydia Yost pitched for Avon, struck out 8, walked 2, and got the win.
