ATHLETES SUPPORT PARENTS’ NIGHT TRADITION

You know that the end of every sports season is approaching when the individualteams host Parents’ Night. Accordingto girls’ basketball coach, Brad Poppe, the purpose of Parents’ Night is “to recognize the parents of the athletes and their sacrifices.” Parents’ Night is a celebration in which athletes thank their parents for supporting them during their high school athletic careers. As parents gather at one end of the gym, player’s names are announced and the celebrants meet for the exchange of gifts. Maintaining tradition, players give a flower to their parent(s). This year, senior players decided to hand out white roses, whereas underclassmen will hand out red carnations. Following the exchange, the various groups gather for pictures.

MARVIN YOST

Marvin L. Yost, age 60 of Chesterfield, MI passed away January 14 at his home. He was born on July 15, 1960 in Avon to Herb and Sharon Yost. He attended grade school and high school in Avon where he graduated in 1978. He married the love of his life, Kris, on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA in 1986. They were blessed with two beautiful children.
