We have one week left and I am excited to wrap up session and go home to my family. I feel like the last part of the session, every year, reveals the most important issues. The Senate, House, and Executive branch always find a way to come together but we all must give a little to get to that point. I will highlight some of the most important issues that we have finalized or are finalizing.
Read moreAgricultural producers can now change election and enroll in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage programs for the 2023 crop year, two key safety net programs offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Producers have until March 15, 2023, to enroll in these two programs. ARC provides income support payments on historical base acres when actual crop revenue declines below a specified guaranteed level. PLC provides income support payments on historical base acres when the effective price for a covered commodity falls below its reference price. Farm owners cannot enroll in either program unless they have a share interest in the farm.
