WAGNER BOYS DEFEAT MENNO 69-31

The Red Raiders picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night in Menno. Wagner put up 19 points in the fist quarter and added 15 in the second period to take a comfortable 34-11 lead into the half. The Red Raiders defensive pressure was the key in building the big lead. Wagner continued to pull away and won by a final score of 69-31. Dustin Honomichl led the way for Wager scoring 23 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Toby Zephier added 9 points 5 steals and 4 assists. Ted Slaba and Chris Nelson each scored 6, Matt Link, Niko Drapeau and Carter Cournoyer scored 5 each. Daelyn Red Buffalo scored 4, Camden Roth, Calvin Wright, and Preston McFayden each scored 2. Wagner forced 30 turnovers and had 19 steals. The Red Raiders play their next game in Bon Homme January 7th.

RED RAIDER JV DEFEATS MENNO 53-25

The Wagner boys JV team started a bit slow against Menno Tuesday night leading 14-10 after the first period and 28-22 at half time. The Red Raiders held Menno to just 3 second half points while putting up 25 of their won wining the game 53-25. Carter Cournoyer led the team with 19 points, Ted Slaba scored 18. Joey Cournoyer added 7, Preston McFayden scored 3, Gabe Houseman, Caleb Zephier and Christian Doom each scored 2. The Red Raider JV improved to 2-1 for the season.

What does it mean to practice humanity in medicine? The phrase is used as a tagline and in book titles. Humanity and compassion in medicine is touted as something to aspire to, a noble accomplishment. But in reality, the biomedical model of health, the business model for healthcare, is not set up to support it. Algorithms and best practices set forth by insurance companies and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid do not account for the time required to establish meaningful human interaction between patient and caregiver.

Funeral services for Jolene Primeaux, 61, of Marty were held Thursday, December 23 at the Community Center in Marty. Burial was in the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Almon Adam, 91, formerly of Pickstown died Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the Centerville Care and Rehab Center in Centerville. Funeral services are Wednesday, December 29 at 1:30 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Lake Andes. Burial is in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes, with military honors. Visitation is at the church from 11:30 until 1:30 on Wednesday. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements. Memorials will be directed to the Centerville Care and Rehab Center Activities Dept. or Veterans Honored Interment.
