CAYLA NELSON IS THE NEW NAM SD TEEN 2022

Cayla Nelson, daughter of Mark and Laura Nelson of Lake Andes, has the title of “NAM SD Teen 2022” after winning the competition this past weekend. She will be the first ever to compete for the nation representing South Dakota in Orlando, Florida over Thanksgiving weekend. She also won her optional contest which included Runway and Casual modeling which gives her the chance to model in front of agents and fashion show directors world wide. The goal for her is 40 hours of community service and as many appearances as possible. If anyone has events she would love to make an appearance along side the sister queens.

TEENER BASEBALL RESULTS

The Region 1A 16U Teener tournament was hosted in Wagner July 25-27. In addition to Wagner, Chamberlain, Madison Gold, and Wessington Springs would also be competing for a spot in the state tournament.

Achievement Days This Week

The Charles Mix County 4-H Achievement Days are here— August 2, 5, and 6. Achievement Days are held at the 4-H Center/ Fairgrounds in Lake Andes. Remember to come and join us for the 4-H BBQ Friday, August 5th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Pork sandwiches, beans, chips, lemonade, and Root Beer floats will be served. We look forward to seeing you at the fair!

EDWARD ANDERSH

Edward Andersh passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 24th, 2022. He had battled several health issues over the past couple of years. We are embracing that he is at peace.

LANDAN MICHAEL SIMMERMON

Cheyenne Simmermon would like to announce the arrival of her brother, Landan Michael Simmermon who arrived on July 8, 2022 at 1:53 p.m. Landan weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces and was 21” long. Proud parents are Timothy and Nichole Simmermon of Mitchell. Grandparents are Mark and Carol Dvorak of Lake Andes and Michael and Wendy Simmermon of Colton, Great Grandparents are Sharon Steckley and the late Philip Steckley of Geddes, James and Bonnie Simmermon of Lake Andes, Marty and Barb Larson of Hurley, and Richard and Leatha Dvorak of Lake Andes.

Library news

“Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Programming is in the books at the Library. Over 40 children participated sometime during the program running Monday-Friday, from June 6-July 25th. Children are now working to complete the required summer reading part of the program. All those who have attended the programming and are reading can have the opportunity to attend the incentive trip to Yankton, planned for August 10th. Permission forms will be going home with children the end of this week. To inquire if your child/children are eligible for the trip contact the library.
