The Wagner Rotary Club began their June 11th meeting by reciting the Rotary Grace prayer. Song leader Gerrit Juffer suggested that we sing “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean” which drew some mumblings, and he quickly changed the request to “Singing in the Rain.” Our singing of the first verse was so dismal that everyone just shook their heads and we reverted to the original request of “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean”. We also sang the Happy Birthday song in honor of President Jordan Weber’s new little baby boy. Congratulations Jordan!

Read moreOn Monday, June 9, Wagner’s Post 11 Junior and Senior Legion teams traveled to Alexandria for a doubleheader. In the first contest Wagner lost a tight, extra-inning game by a score of 4-3. Edward Ulrich started the game and lasted 6.2 innings and did a fine job of keeping us in the game. He gave up three earned runs on nine hits while walking five and striking out nine. After reaching his pitch limit, Avery Medicine was called upon in a tight situation. There were two runners on with two outs upon his arrival. He walked the first batter but induced the following hitter into an inning ending pop up to the shortstop to send the game into extras. After Wagner went down quietly in the top of the 8th, Alexandria started the inning with a double off the wall, advancing to third on a throwing error. Avery kept his composure and got the next man to hit a harmless infield fly for the first out. Unfortunately, Alexandria would score the game winning run after the runner from third got in a rundown that was mishandled.
