The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting a flag retirement ceremony on Friday, August 22 at the Avon High School Football Field at 6:20 p.m. (prior to the football game) This is a dignified and respectful event designed to dispose of a worn or damaged American flag that is no longer fit for display due to its compromised appearance. It is a moment to reflect on what the flag represents: freedom, sacrifice, and unity. Please consider joining us for this ceremony. Unserviceable flags in need of retirement may be dropped off at Deb and Nyla’s or brought to the football field that evening by 6:00 p.m.
