The Wagner Post 11 junior legion squad traveled to Tabor on July 28 and 29 to take part in the Region 4B tournament. This tournament was pool play with the other three teams participating being Tabor, Scotland- Menno-Freeman-Canistota, and Winner.
Read moreThere was almost a full house at the Rotary Building on Wednesday, July 30, for the last July meeting. Guests present were Roberta Haar Duke and her two sons William and Sydney Duke from the Netherlands. Roberta is the daughter of Sharon and the late Harris Haar and has lived in the Netherlands for many years now. She always comes back to her roots for a visit, and we were happy to have them in attendance. They were guests of Rotarian Becky Brunsing. Rotarian Bryan Slaba brought the new WCMH CFO Joshua Christensen as a guest also. Judene Ervine was present in lieu of Rotarian Amanda Bechen who was out on business matters.
Read moreMatthew Kokes, the son of Jay and Lori Kokes, was the Wagner American Legion’s 2025 Boys State delegate. South Dakota Boys State was held at Northern State University in Aberdeen on June 2-6. When asked why he applied to attend Boys State, Matthew said it was because he wanted to learn more about how the government worked, the behind-the-scenes processes and to network with others from across the state. When Matthew found out that he had been chosen as Wagner’s delegate, he was very excited. Going into the event, all that Matthew knew was that it was a chance for young people like himself that were interested in government to get first-hand experience while learning.

Read moreFuneral Service Mass for Bonnie May (Robbennolt) Novak, age 96, of Wagner will be held Friday, August 8 at 10 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, August 7th from 5:30-7 p.m., followed by a Rosary/Wake Service at 7 p.m. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations will be directed to the Wagner Food Pantry and the ROCS office-Meals on Wheels.
