What better way to spread love on Valentine's day than by the gift of song? This past February 14th, Avon’s choir teacher Autumn Schultz and her senior choir students “serenaded” members in the community and neighboringtowns.TheysangthesongHome by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros 41 times in the course of the day. Senior Kenzie Sassaman said, “The day was a lot of fun. We saw some tears, a few laughs, and a lot of embarrassing looks on some people's faces! Overall I loved brightening people's day.” The moneyraisedfromtheserenadeswillbeused for the senior music trip this June.

What makes a good student? Ibelieveagoodstudent has many great qualities. Some of the qualities a good student would have, is turning in work on time, actively participatinginclassdiscussion, andgettinggoodgrades. Ifastudentisturningintheir workontime,thismeansthe student cares about their grade, and they can succeed. When a student is actively participating in the class discussion, they are learning another way that will help them succeed in being a good student. Lastly, when a studentistryinginclassesto strive for good grades this is makinganimpactonthem.It opensupmoreopportunities for the student in the future. I think that all of these qualities make a good student. These types of students are going to make it far in life, and help them in the future.

On February 8th, 2023, Music Teacher, Autumn Schultz and the Avon choir went to Yankton for the small group contest. They had 20 different small groups going to the competition. The competition was scored by a large variety of judges, some more strict than others. The grading scale goes from the lowest at V (5) to the highest at I (1).
