The move is on the way! As of November 2nd all items that need to be moved from the library location at 500 Main has been completed. Library employees and volunteers from the Lake Andes area are busy putting our moved inventory into the new library at 17 Park Ave.

LAKE ANDES COUNTRY QUILTERS

The first meeting of the Country Quilters was held May 19, 1999. Over 24 years later, the group is still meeting and quilting together though some of the members have changed over the years. Charter members of the group were Janet Bortz, Noreen Bridges, Georgine Chytka, Lorraine Fox, Jennifer Hicks, Arlene Huber, Nancy Ireland, Carla Pesicka, Marietta Mabie, Anita Miller, Ardyth Nielson, Dawn Nolz, Sylvia Pelezza, Shelly Petrik, Joyce Soulek, JoAnn Steigmier, Ora Mae Wiechman, Ruby Wiechman and Helen Chernotek.

LAKE ANDES VETERAN OF THE MONTH- HAROLD MILLER

The Lake Andes November Veteran of the Month is Harold Miller. Harold is a Veteran of the Korean War. Miller was drafted in 1952 and served until 1954. At the time that Harold was drafted, he was farming with his family outside of Canova. Being drafted didn’t bother Miller, he felt that he was called upon and it was his duty to serve his country. Harold was a Marine. He did his basic training and his job training as a mechanical engineer at Fort Pendelton in San Diego, CA.

DONALD GENE 'CHOPPY' PATTERSON

Funeral services for Donald Gene “Choppy” Patterson, Jr., 48, were held Thursday, November 2 at the YST South Community Center Gym. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery in Greenwood. Wake services were at the Community Center. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Terry Lee Larson, 56, of Sioux Falls, passed away October 29, 2023, in Sioux Falls. He was born June 4, 1967, in Sioux Falls. Terry was a great man. He could fix just about anything, and if he couldn’t, he’d still find a way. He prided himself on his mechanical skill.
