ROLLIN' INTO SUMMER SAFELY

Wagner Communities That Care hosted a Rollin’ Into Summer Safely event on May 1. The purpose of the event was to promote helmet safety while using any type of wheels and to meet law enforcement. The event started during school with all 194 Wagner Community School students grades 2-4, receiving a free helmet. Each student was fitted for a helmet with help from the school’s Hope Squad members, law enforcement and Wagner CTC members. Students were given instruction on proper helmet fit, information on bike safety, hand signals and stickers to decorate their helmets. The after-school event provided students with a chance to win a free bike or scooter, take home a refurbished bike and gel ice pack, instruction on bike maintenance (how to air tires and put a bike chain on), have a snack, meet local law enforcement and drive through an obstacle course.
