Wagner American Legion Greer Post #11 presented four $500.00 scholarships at graduation exercises on Saturday, May 10. Scholarships are awarded annually to Seniors who have applied for the scholarships and have successfully completed the requirements for graduation. This scholarship program provided by the American Legion Greer Post #11 is designed to assist promising senior students as they continue their education.

Also in attendance were three of our four scholarship winners; Presley Slaba, Carter Smejkal and Lydia Yost. They all stood and thanked the Legion and gave a brief synopsis of their future plans. A round of applause was given to tonight’s cooks. Chaplain Don Kotab then gave the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all followed by the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion. Commander Clayton Rados then called the meeting to order.

The family of Lillian Munroe Iron Wing of Sioux Falls, announces with sadness the peaceful passing of Lillian Iron Wing on May 2, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Known for her strength, kindness and humor, Lillian will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Lillian’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others and not the sadness of her passing.

Funeral services for Ernest Weddell, Jr., 71 of Marty were held Friday, May 9 at the YST South Community Gym in Wagner. Burial was in the Hill Church Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Wagner.

Rita Mae Schuch age 90 of Tyndall, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Michael’s Hospital Avera, Tyndall. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Tabor, with Rev. Darin Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitations will be Tuesday, May 20 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with a Wake service at 7:00 p.m. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
