Gary LaVern Mattis, 82, passed away July 25, 2023 in Independence, Missouri. Gary was born to Bessie Hennies and Jack Mattis in Wagner during a blizzard. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and graduated from Wagner High School in 1958.

Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will at the church on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM, followed by Rosary/Wake services at 7 PM.

Eric Flood died Monday, July 17, at his home in Uhland, Texas. Funeral services were 10 a.m., Friday, July 28, at the Marty Community Center. Burial was in St Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn E. Patocka was born November 4, 1922 to John and Agnes (Blaha) Pesicka. She passed away April 13, 2023 after a life well lived. Evelyn attained the age of 100 years, 4 months and 13 days.

Janis L. Hasz, 89, of Aberdeen, died Tuesday, June 27, at Prairie Heights HealthCare, Aberdeen. The funeral service was Monday, July 3, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Waldrop officiating. Burial was at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Wessington Springs.

Brain Collins passed away on July 13, 2023 in his home in Lake Andes. Private services were held. Brian Harold Collins entered this world as a never ending relative to Ina Make, the world of animals, fish and plants on September 17, 1944 in Beloit, Kansas.

Edward Delano Kolecka, 90, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, July 12 at Douglas County Memorial Hospital. Mass of Christian burial was Monday, July 17 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour. Arrangements were by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

James (Jim) Henry Weber was born in Wagner, South Dakota on September 3, 1938 to Henry and Rose Weber and passed away peacefully, at home in Lake Forest, CA, Sunday night January 1, 2023 of a cardiac arrest and lung problems. He was on oxygen the last year of his life.

Warren Ronke, 57, of Tyndall passed away on July 12, 2023 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall. Funeral services were held Monday July 17 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Tyndall. Burial was in the Evangelical Cemetery. Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Orville J. Dvoracek, age 80, of Sioux Falls died Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Sanford USD Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were held Friday, July 14 at George Boom Funeral Home & Onsite Crematory in Sioux Falls. Interment will be in Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls following the service.
