IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY TO GIVE THANKS

Weather Watch We were cruising along through the summer and fall of this year until we came to October. To me, that is when time slowed down to a crawl. I think it was because there were Halloween Decorations out starting in September, and it just took forever to get to Halloween.

CELEBRATING A MILESTONE FOR DEMOCRACY

The 2018 election is an important milestone for South Dakota elections. It was 100 years ago – on November 5, 1918 – that South Dakota voters, all men, gave women the right to vote in our state for the first time. It wasa long-awaitedvictory for voting rights for women.

A DEBT REPAID

Weather Watch During the summers of the mid-fifties, from the time I was a 6th grader until high school graduation when I had to get a job, Dad took my brother John and me on camping/ fishing expeditions into remote Canadian lakes. We never saw another fisherman.

RAISE YOUR VOICE FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES

It seems to me the only voices being heard in this world are from big companies, big cities and big government. The news blasted on my car radio as I drove across the prairie a few weeks ago, “the nation’s Gross Domestic Product growth has risen to a booming 4.

SOUTH DAKOTA'S 100TH PHEASANT SEASON

October in South Dakota is a glorious month. I love the crisp mornings, chilly evenings and weekend sounds of marching bands in homecoming parades. And I truly love the annual gathering of family and Pheasant season in South Dakota is always a great experience. This year could be especially so.

100 YEARS IN THE MAKING

It would be a serious understatement to say pheasant hunting is one of the most highly anticipated outdoor traditions in South Dakota, and its roots go back an entire century.
