Update on Rail to Trail: Tyndall to Platte Two plus months ago, an engineering firm was chosen to do a feasibility study. I called Pierre and was told there has been a delay in starting the study due to an audit concern. There is no definite timeline on when the study will start.

LOOKING FOR FRANK ASHFORD

Frank Ashford may be one of the most consequential South Dakota artists that hardly anyone knows. Ashford was born in Iowa in 1878 and moved with his family to Stratford, southeast of Aberdeen along the James River, in 1893. At age 18, he left to study art in Chicago, Philadelphia and New York.

Tabor to Platte Rail to Trail In the March-April 2024 'South Dakota Magazine' they are promoting the Rail to Trail project. It reads in part 'Tabor to Platte Rail to Trail would follow a wagon path known as the Military Road that was established in the 1860s.

A BASKETBALL BLIZZARD FOR THE AGES

South Dakota is enjoying an unusually warm and dry early spring. Snow geese passed through a couple weeks early, tulips are popping out of the ground and, in what was a relief for thousands of high school basketball fans, the annual threat of a state tournament blizzard never materialized.

A couple of days ago my wife Brenda and I had a meeting in Aberdeen so we traveled north on highway 281 towards our destination. The landscape along this way is pretty flat with not much to see except lots of farm land. After 98 miles of driving time we came to the town of Wolsey.

The Bon Homme County Commissioners have voted to have me represent Bon Homme County in the controversial Rail to Trail Project. District III in Yankton has put together costs involved with this project. Trai ls Development $140,000 per mile times 60 miles is $8,400,000.
