LISTENING IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO STAY INFORMED

Shortly before the Senate adjourned for its annual August state work period, I went to the Senate floor to lay out my agenda for what I wanted to accomplish while I was home. At the top of my list was meeting with as many South Dakotans as possible, which has always been the best part of my job.

SWATEK INDUCTED INTO SD COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME

Stan Swatek of Wagner was among the 2019 Inductees for the South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame. A 3-day music festival was held from Friday, September 13 through Sunday, September 15 with the Awards Ceremony being held on Sunday at the South Shore School Gym near Watertown. Congratulations Stan!

This Week in September 11th, 2019 Meeting of the Wagner Rotary Club convened at noon. Presiding over the meeting was President Bill Frei who asked Pastor Bill Herrmann to offer up prayer.

ANOTHER HEAVY RAIN STORM WREAKS HAVOC IN THE AREA

Area roads are again under water as more storms came during the night and dumped more rain on the area causing wide spread flooding with several roads in the county closed. Our rain gauge showed 2.85" on Tuesday night and 2.50" on Wednesday night.

NELSON ATTENDS NATIONAL RURAL ELECTRIC YOUTH TOUR

Miss Ciara Nelson, a student at Wagner Community School from Lake Andes, has had a whirlwind of a summer vacation. After being chosen by the Charles Mix Electric Association to attend the National Rural Electric Youth Tour, she spent a week in Washington, DC in June.

WAGNER HIGH SCHOOL CLASS ELECT OFFICERS

Class meetings to elect officers were held on Monday, August 19. Rose Eitemiller was elected to serve the senior class as President. Emilea Cimpl was elected to serve as Vice President and Cedric Drapeau was elected to serve as Secretary/Treasurer.

NOEM, DOT ANNOUNCE REOPENING OF HIGHWAY 18

PIERRE, S.D. – Governor Kristi Noem and the South Dakota Department of Transportation today announced that the grade raise on Highway 18 east of Lake Andes is complete and the roadway is open to traffic. Highway 18 has been closed since March 22 because of severe flooding.
