ORAL INTERP MEMBERS QUALIFY FOR STATE

The Avon Oral Interpretation Team had three events qualify for the Region 2B competition. The three events placed as follows: Reese Powers and Makayla Kopp, Duet – 1st place, Sarah Swier, Storytelling – 2nd place, and Reece Loewe, Serious Prose – 2nd place.

Conrad and Erma Meyer and their daughter, Karen and Ramey Gearhart of Ramona were Thanksgiving Day guests in the home of Marlo Anderson of Hartford. Jim and Shirley Yonkers were guests on Thanksgiving Day in the home of her daughter, Robin and Jim Schnaidt of Menno.

MILESTONE DONORS AT LIFESERVE BLOOD DRIVE

The LifeServe Blood Center blood drive sponsored by Avon Community on Wednesday, November 25 had a fantastic turn-out! There were 23 donors registered and 24 life-saving units of blood were donated. We appreciate everyone that came out to help boost the local blood supply!

Thanksgiving marks the official start of the holiday season – although I think we all put our Christmas trees up a little earlier this year. Although COVID-19 may put a damper on the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I know South Dakotans will make the best of things – we always do.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas as the Avon City crew was busy last week hanging Christmas decorations on Main Street. The month of December won't be the same though as the annual Parade of Lights has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

2000 – 20 Years Ago Avon Lady Pirates return eight letter winners from last year. Santa Claus made his first appearance this past Saturday night as he wandered the streets in Avon before the Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd Annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony.
