The Avon Public Library recently received a donation in the amount of $1,515 in memory of Sara Soukup. Sara was raised in rural Charles Mix county. Her mom, LouAnn Soukup, recalls that when Sara was young, she had trouble with seeing things in the distance, but could see things up close.

Lynn Stather and Amanda and Baylor Block of Platte attended a Grade basketball game in Tyndall of Lynn's great-nephew, Cade Block of Platte a week ago Saturday. Cade's father, Jesse Block is the coach.

Fall always puts me in a literary mood, perhaps because the South Dakota Festival of Books is held in late September or early October. I relish the opportunity to listen to writers discuss their books and always leave inspired to work on new projects.

The Bon Homme Community choir is making preparations for this years Easter Cantata. This years Cantata is titled "Closer to the Cross" celebrating the Journey of Christ. Combining old and new music with excellent narration to make a meaningful Cantata.

Starr Chief Eagle is an enrolled member of the Sicangu (Rosebud) Lakota Sioux Tribe. She was born with the Lakota name Wichahpi Tokahe (First Star) and was later given the Lakota name Wichahpi Ohitika Winyan (Brave Star Woman) as she entered into adulthood.

Cahoy's purchased the old Wollman's pharmacy building a couple years ago and currently have a meat cutting room and walk-in cooler in the back portion of the building. They are expanding the meat room to add some additional meat cutting equipment.

Kayli Kocer, of Wagner, was named to the President’s Honor List for full-time students for the Fall 2021 semester at Northeast Community College. To qualify for this list the students must earn a 4.0 grade point for at least 12 credit hours.

Wagner Rotary held a Cracker Barrel at Two Spurs on Saturday, February 5th. Marty Overweg, Erin Tobin, Rocky Blare and Caleb Fink were present to visit with area residence. Topics included term limits, agriculture, healthcare and school funding.
