Wagner Hospital Auxiliary

Wagner Community Memorial Hospital Avera Auxiliary held their monthly meeting October 25 with eight members present. President Pearl Weber called the meeting to order and members read the Auxiliary prayer in unison. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

The Rotary Bell was rung Wednesday, October 25th by President- Elect Jordan Weber. It was a learning experience for Jordan as he was informed it was a very weak tone and he gave it a heavier tap to make it official.

Wagner Waves held a Mystery Murder Masquerade fundraising event Saturday, October 28th for the pool. They had a night of fun with social hour, three acts, music, dessert and silent auction and gun raffle. Photography by Denelle.

SOUTH DAKOTA’S PHEASANT HUNTING TRADITION

A crisp, cool morning. The sight of blaze orange all around. Shouts of “rooster!” followed by the crack of a shotgun. It can only mean one thing: It’s pheasant season in South Dakota. Ring-necked pheasants were introduced in South Dakota over 100 years ago.

ASHLEY SINGING AT STATE SOCCER

On October 14h, Ashley Tolsma sang the National Anthem at the high school State Soccer tournament in Brandon. Ashley had to go through a series of steps to be invited to sing. First, she had to practice the National Anthem.

IT'S PHEASANT HUNTING SEASON IN SOUTH DAKOTA

A drive around the country this weekend found many fields with area hunters and their dogs as pheasant season opened October 21st. The Fathke family enjoys the season opener ever year, as family members gather to enjoy time together on the hunt and relaxing and catching up as the sun goes down.

PLATTE/GEDDES/ ANDES CENTRAL/ DAKOTA CHRISTIAN COMPETES AT STATE CHEER

Platte-Geddes/Andes Central/Dakota Christian traveled to Sioux Falls to compete in the SDHSAA State Cheer and Dance competition at the Denny Sanford Center on Friday, October 20th.The team took 5th in Dance, 2nd in Jazz, 3rd in Pom and 13th in Grand Champion Cheer and 8th in Small Cheer.

“GET YOUR EYES CHECKED!”

If you ever played baseball, you may have been told to “keep your eye on the ball.” When batting, a baseball player is taught to watch the ball the entire time from when it leaves the pitcher’s hand to when, hopefully, their bat smacks the ball for a hit.

MASQUERADE BALL EVENT CHARACTERS

Masquerade Ball will be held at Bloodwood Castle (Wagner Armory) October 28 at 6 p.m. Meet the citizens of Bloodworth Falls and help them solve the mystery. This event is open to the public. Tickets are available at each of the banks in Wagner as well as from Catch The Wave Committee members.
