On October 14h, Ashley Tolsma sang the National Anthem at the high school State Soccer tournament in Brandon. Ashley had to go through a series of steps to be invited to sing. First, she had to practice the National Anthem. Next, she had to record herself singing it and send the recording to the SDHSAA. The SDHSAA had to pick who they wanted to sing, and they chose Ashley. When we asked Ashley how she felt about it, she said,” I wasn’t really nervous because this was my third year of singing at a state event, and it was my second solo. I think that it was an honor to get to sing so publicly because it means something to the people.” She was happy to sing about America, and she will try out again next year
