LARRY BLAHA MEMORIAL

Larry Blaha offered his talents to the Wagner Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years starting in 1984. During his fire fighting time, he completed the Chief duties from April of 1989 to April of 1991.

BRIDGE IMPROVEMENT GRANT (BIG) RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Transportation Commission awarded 33 Preliminary Engineering Bridge Improvement Grants (BIG) totaling approximately $1.42 million at the Aug. 26 meeting in Pierre.

Wednesday August 25th, President Bryan Slaba rang the Rotary Bell to call the Wagner Rotarians to order. There were no guests present other than the program guests, so Pastor Rotarian Bill Herrmann was called upon to offer up a prayer.

DSU MAKES STUDENT TEACHING ASSIGNMENTS

MADISON, S.D., Aug. 27, 2021 – Dakota State University student Sydney Dvorak is student teaching eighth grade English-Language Arts for the fall 2021 semester in the Mitchell School District. Dvorak is originally from Lake Andes.

KOUPAL ELECTED ANGUS DELEGATE TO THE 138TH ANNUAL MEETING

Vern Edward Koupal, Dante, has been elected as a delegate to the 138th American Angus Association® Convention of Delegates, set to be held Nov. 8 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas, reports Mark McCully, chief executive officer of the American Angus Association.

VETERANS DAY AT STATE FAIR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

At 10:30 a.m. on September 2, the South Dakota State Fair will host a “Salute to Veterans” program on the Northwestern Energy Freedom Stage. South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Greg Whitlock will serve as the keynote speaker.

Greer Post #11 American Legion

American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on June 17, 2021 at the Post Home. Commander Clayton Rados called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

SUPER HEROES DON'T ALWAYS WHERE CAPES

The afternoon of this past August 10th, was one I will not forget. I spent the afternoon with heroes. These weren’t the typical heroes we see in movies that wear capes and save damsels in distress. These heroes sported “lines of experience” on their faces.

BON HOMME COUNTY ANNUAL PHEASANTS FOREVER BANQUET

The 21st Annual Bon Homme County Pheasants Forever Banquet will be held this Saturday, August 28 at the Tyndall Community Center. The doors open with crowing hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a Steak tips meal at 7 p.m. catered by Doug’s Food.
