The American Legion Auxiliary, Greer Unit #11 is honoring Donald Hubbard as May’s Veteran of the Month. Hubbard is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. In 1965, Hubbard earned his pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. A week later he married Joan Penner.

Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on June 15, 2023 at the Post home with 16 members present and two guests. The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening.

Congratulations to all the Participates for Charles Mix County at the Spring State Shoot. This competition was held April 28th - 30th in Ft Pierre. These members practiced on Sundays at the 4-H center from January through April.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa— Alaina Bechen, a student at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, earned a spot on the Academic Dean’s List for the spring 2023 semester. The Dean’s List is comprised of students who have achieved a semester grade point average of 3.

MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University recently released its spring 2023 dean’s list which includes 299 university students. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 on a fourpoint scale.

Participating in the Lake Andes Fish Days Pedal Pull on June 3rd were several locals who worked hard to bring home the wins.

Merriam’s Midway Shows carnival on the midway and the Craft Fair & Kvocny Quilt Show in the school gym kick off the 74th Annual Czech Days celebration on Thursday, June 15th. The Tabor Bluebirds baseball game with Lesterville will be at 7:30 p.m.

Bon Homme County 4-H horse members will be participating in the 2023 Bon Homme & Charles Mix County Horse Show at the 7-N Horse Arena in Springfield June 28th. This is a combined county show. Registration will start at 9 a.m. with the show to start at 9:30 a.m.

Feeding South Dakota food distribution will be held June 23 at the Avon Fire Hall at 12 noon. PLEASE NOTE: Proxy pickup (picking up food for someone unable to attend) is allowed with a completed form.
