Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary

Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on June 15, 2023 at the Post home with 16 members present and two guests.

The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in Unison.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

There was no treasurer's report given.

Alyssa Mathis made a motion to pay bills that were presented, seconded by Kathy Geiman. Motion carried.

Membership chairman Barbara Kucera reported we have 79 paid members. Goal is 77.

Correspondence was read from Karen Richelieu, District 8 President.

Community Service Chairman Margie Stone reported no cards sent this last month.

Thank you was read from the Sioux Falls VA Health Care system for the letters and pictures sent from students at Wagner Community School. Thank you was read from Audrey Gabel for being selected as a winner in the Poppy Poster contest.

Report was given on the State Convention held June 8-11, 2023 by Linda Youngbluth, Barbara Kucera and Kathy Geiman.

Discussed the lunch served on Memorial Day and the lunch stand at the Wagner Cancer Rummage Sale.

The auxiliary will be serving brats at Wagner Super Foods on June 30, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Following are workers Barbara Kucera, Margie stone, Carol Tolliver and Linda Youngbluth.

Alyssa Mathis made a motion to make donations to the following places from the poppy fund, seconded by Kathy Geiman. Motion carried. The places are Fischer House, Berkchah House, Special Olympics, Children's Miracle Network and Ronald McDonald House.

Bonnie Soukup won the basket and donated it back to the children and youth fund.

There being no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplin Margie Stone read the prayer for peace and President Linda Youngbluth adjourned the meeting.
