WILLARD PLACEK

Funeral services for Willard Placek, age 81, of Lynch, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, at Lynch Community Hall in Lynch. Reverend Glen Stahlecker will officiate, with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Spencer, Nebraska.

Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Posts 223 and 78, Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard, and American Legion Riders. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lynch Community Hall. Brockhaus Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Willard died Friday, September 7, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Willard Ludwig Placek, son of Ludwig and Blanche Ober Placek, was born January 22, 1937, at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Lynch, Nebraska. He attended county school through the 8th grade and then went to school in Lynch. Willard married Marita Kerbel Placek on September 18, 1965, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spencer. Two sons, Eugene Lee and Keith Dale Placek were born to them. The couple would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on September 18th.

Except for the four years Willard spent in the service of his country, he lived his entire life on the family farm engaged in farming and ranching. He served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962, as an air craft load master during the Korean and Vietnam time frame andwasstationedinCharleston, South Carolina, and Morocco.

Willard died on September 7, 2018 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk at the age of 81.

He is survived by his wife, Marita, sons: Gene (Isabela) of Rapid City and Keith (Marilou) of Lincoln, Nebraska; granddaughter, Lexi (Mark) Foyle of Ft. Rucker, Alabama; four step grandchildren: Luke, Morgan, Toni and Rebecca Roth; two great-grandchildren: Luke and Maggie Foyle; and one brother, Larry Placek, Columbus.

Willard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin, sister-in-law, Gale Placek of Columbus; and parents-in-law, Ray and Mary Kerbel of Spencer.
