Funeral Mass for Marjorie Leibel, 96, of Wagner, was held Tuesday, August 28 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial was in the parish cemetery, rural Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Catherine Leibel, daughter of William and Margaret (Long) Fitzgerald was born in Wagner on November 18, 1921. She died Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner at the age of 96 years, nine months and five days.

Marjorie rode her white horse to attend grade school at Bryan #5. She graduated from Wagner High School and then completed one year of Nursing School in Sioux City.

Marjorie married Lawrence Leibel in Wagner on August 23, 1952. Together they farmed and raisedthreesons.Marjorieloved her chickens and delivering eggs to her customers.

Marjorie was a member of the Home Extension Club, St. John’s Catholic Church, Altar Society and 4-H.

Marjorie loved to read books, paint pillow cases and dish towels to then give to her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and babysitting for the neighbor kids who also called her Grandma. Marjorie kept candy and ice cream on hand at all times for all little ones, designating one shelf in the refrigerator for candy. Marjorie made special treats for her pets. She cooked oatmeal and eggs daily for her cats and she fed her pot bellied pig “Porkchop” Oreo cookies and Bit-O-Honey. Marjorie enjoyed traveling with her cousins Jim Long and Mary Gredys.

Marjorie is survived by her three sons, Bill (Miriam) Leibel of Tyndall, Richard (Kathy) Leibel and Tim (Bev) Leibel, of Wagner; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence on July, 1 1997; her brother Francis Fitzgerald; her parents and several in laws.
