Thelma Jean Meyer, 88, died at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls on Thursday, December 20, 2018. Funeral service was Friday, December 28 at United Church of Christ in Armour with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour was in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Jean Meyer was born on March 15, 1930 to Carl and Ida (Barkley) Stone in Wagner. She attended country school in Charles Mix County, then graduated from Wagner High School. After graduation, she worked at the Commercial State Bank in Wagner. On January 30, 1949, she married the love of her life, Reo Meyer. Together they farmed north of Armour, near Ravinia and finally southwest of Armour. In 1983, they moved to Armour. Reo died on October 18, 1997.

Thelma remained in Armour and was an active servant of her church, the United Church of Christ, were she served for many years as the financial secretary. She was a member of PEO, and volunteered at the nursing home in Armour and the Lorraine Theater. She was an amazing seamstress and enjoyed, gardening, reading, crafts and baking. She spent her last years at Prairie Villa and Armour Care and Rehabilitation Center. She passed away at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the age of 88.

She is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen Gaskins of Brighton, CO, Kimberly Meyer-Lee of Ft. Collins, CO, and Stephanie Welch of Spokane, WA, two brothers, Dr. Thomas Stone of Chamberlain, Merle Stone of Wagner, sister, Lois Carda of Rapid City, and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Reo.
