A funeral service for Margaret O'Connor, 85, of Lake Andes, was held Monday, December 24, at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Following services she was cremated and burial will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Marty at a later date.

Margaret Mary O’Connor was born November 18, 1922 at Greenwood, the daughter of George and Bertha (Williams) O’Connor. She died Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes. She attained the age of 85 years, one month and three days.

Margaret graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1955. She received her college education in Business Administration from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield.

Margaret worked for the State of South Dakota in Pierre for 11 years in Archives and the Attorney General’s office. She then worked for seven years as the Charles Mix County Superintendent of Schools, two years as the Mental Health Coordinator for the IHS, five years as Procurement Officer for the BIA and three years on the Board of Directors for Dakota Plains Legal Services for North and South Dakota.

Margaret will be remembered for her love of golfing, raising animals, going to rummage sales, and helping sick people in need.

Thankful for having shared her life are her brother, Leo and wife Blossom O’Connor of Lake Andes and many relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and a sister who died in infancy.
