Funeral services for Richard Greger, 51, of Geddes were held Saturday, October 12 at the Multipurpose Center in Geddes. Burial was in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner.

Richard Allen Greger was born July 5, 1968 at Wagner, the son of Samuel and Shirley (Kreeger) Greger. He died Monday, October 7, 2019 at Ava’s House Sanford Hospice Center in Sioux Falls. He fought two major battles with cancer. The first was colon cancer and ten years later, nerve sheath tumors, which took his life after a long, hard fought battle.

Rich graduated from Wagner High School in 1986. He worked for his Uncle Jack “Honeyboy” Greger learning the beekeeping business. He also worked for his Uncle John Greger at John’s Tire. Rich trucked for Fousek Trucking for nine years before starting his own bee business, which he owned and operated for the past 30 years. He built many relationships through the years, from land owners, to honey buyers, to his employees, and each one was just as important to him as the next. If you didn’t find Rich getting stung by a bee, you could find him hunting anything that moved or flew, or fishing anytime of the year, and he didn’t care how far he had to go to do it. He loved spending time with family and friends and he enjoyed cooking and grilling. Rich also loved sporting events and following the Green Bay Packers.

Rich was united in marriage to Michelle Sejnoha at a destination wedding in Niagra Falls, NY on August 1, 2013 and renewed their vows at the United Methodist Church in Geddes on the same date a year later with family and friends.

Rich was a member of the United Methodist Church in Geddes and was a former member of the Wagner Fire Department, Dante Lake Club and Ducks Unlimited.

Thankful for having shared his life are his mom Shirley Greger of Wagner, brother Sam Greger Jr. of Wagner; wife Michelle Greger and her kids Noah and Kennedy Sejnoha of Geddes; ex-wife Dianna Rushing and her children: Karen Shelton, Dustie Cooke and Callie Peters, and their children, all of TX; mother and father-in-law, Monica and Galen Vander Pol of Geddes; sisters and brothers-in-law: Melanie (Nathan) Bailey of Corsica, Bobby (Ivette) Sejnoha of Aurora, CO, Jill (Brady) Burns of Corsica, Monica (Sam) Mortenson of Blaine, MN, and Mandi (Troy) Davis of Aurora, CO; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by his dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
