Funeral Mass for Anita Miller, 87, of Lake Andes will be Thursday, October 24 at 11 a.m., at The Church of the Epiphany in Epiphany. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with Rosary at 6:45 and Prayer Services at 7 p.m., at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Lake Andes. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Anita Marie Miller was born April 1, 1932 at home on Locust Hill Farm west of Epiphany, the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Sieverding. She died Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Senior Living Center in Lake Andes. Anita attained the age of 87 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Anita attended Burbank school and graduated from St. Agatha school in Epiphany. Anita married Lamar Peppmuller on June 10, 1951 and a daughter, Vickie was born to their union. After Lamar’s death in 1953, Anita attended beauty school in Sioux Falls and then worked in Huron as a beautician at the Huiett Hotel.

Anita married Harold Miller on June 19, 1956 in Epiphany. They lived in Idaho for a year and a half and then moved to Canova where they lived for 33 years. Anita worked as a beautician in her home. They retired and moved to Lake Andes in 1993, where Anita continued to work as a beautician at Rita’s Hair Care and LA Senior Living Center for many years. Anita became a resident of the Senior Living Center on February 2, 2017.

Anita will be remembered for keeping an immaculate house. She loved quilting and made a quilt for each of her children and all of her granddaughters. She enjoyed working in the yard, tending to flowers, growing a garden, decorating the yard with lawn ornaments, golfing, bowling, fishing, playing cards, marbles, and she loved to bake. She loved entertaining company, especially her grandkids.

Anita is survived by her husband Harold of Lake Andes; three children: Vickie Brewer, Cindy Mengenhauser and Mike Miller all of Lake Andes; 11 granddaughters; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Eleanore (Fritz) Forsberg of New Hampshire; and many relatives and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; son-in-law Mark Mengenhauser; five brothers; five sisters and five infant great-grandchildren.
