Wake services for Raymond Doyle Dion, “Wambdi Odowon” (Singing Eagle) 16, of Lake Andes began Tuesday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Graveside services were at the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner on Friday, October 16. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Raymond was the first born to Lorenzo Dion Jr. and Sonia McGhee on August 26, 2004 at Yankton. He died Monday, October 12, 2020 at his home in Lake Andes.

Raymond was baptized in the Yankton Sioux Native American Crossfire Church. His Godmother is Samantha (Dion) King and Godfather is Jason McGhee. Raymond is a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. Raymond loved to sing and drum as he was growing up. His grandmother Caroline named him, “Singing Eagle”. He is a descendent of Chief Mad Bull and Chief Smutty Bear.

Raymond attended Andes Central High School kindergarten through the tenth grade. Raymond had a lot of relatives and friends whom he loved and cared for. Raymond relied on all of his bros for their strength. He loved hanging out, playing basketball and playing Playstation with them.

Raymond will be remembered for his sense of fashion and bling. Big Mom always decked him out to the max. Raymond was a quiet, gentle boy. Raymond loved and missed his mom Sonia, dad Bubs and Big Mom very much after their passing.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Sonia, maternal grandparents: Mary Dog Soldier and Wilbert “robes” Big Eagle and his paternal grandparents Lorenzo Dion Sr. and Caroline Mae Dion.

Raymond is survived by his sister Rainy Denae Dion, aunts: Samantha, Sabra, Shelly, Josette and all of his cousins and relatives.
