Funeral Services for Corey James Irwin, 31, of Lake Andes were Saturday, January 30 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Corey James Irwin was born May 5, 1989 at Parkston, the son of Brad and Stacy (Hrdlicka) Irwin. He died Monday, January 25, 2021.

Corey graduated from Wagner High School in 2007 and earned an Associates Degree in Building Construction from Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE. He came back to pursue his dream and was hired on at Bouza Construction in 2009 and worked there until 2016. He then went to help work on the family farm. He continued to do construction work on the side. His business was Irwin Carpentry. Corey was very skilled in his labor, was very particular about his work and was very passionate about everything he did.

Corey was united in marriage to Jill on May 9, 2015 in Avon.

Corey took great pride in building his own home for his family. He was very proud of his four children. Corey loved the outdoors and hunting. He loved all animals and had a love for working with horses.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Jill of Lake Andes; four children: Tennessee, Bennett, Ruger and Carollee; parents Brad and Stacy Irwin of Lake Andes; sister Becky (Alex) Petrik of Lake Andes; grandma Mary Irwin of Wagner; grandpa Bob Hrdlicka of Lake Andes; father and mother-in-law, John and Jan Fathke of Avon; brother and sister-in-law, Jed (Maureen) Fathke of Avon; and aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Corey was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Carol Bonnett, and uncles Danny Irwin and Danny Hrdlicka.
