CHRIS PATTERSON, SR.

Funeral services for Chris Patterson, Sr., 51, of Wagner were held Thursday, August 19 at the National Guard Armory in Wagner. Burial was in the Holy Name Episcopal Cemetery (Choteau Creek), rural Wagner. Wake services began Tuesday at the Armory. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Chris Allen Patterson, Sr. was born on October 15, 1969 to Layton Patterson Sr. and Diane Crawford in Wagner. He died Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his home in Wagner. He attained the age of 51 years and ten months. He was the sixth of seven children.

Everyone who knew him called him Big Luda Hus’ka, Dad, Uncle or Brother; never Chris. He was loved dearly by all who knew him with his crazy, joking ways. He always had a smile and good conversation. There was never a dull moment when he was around.

Chris graduated with honors from Marty Indian School in 1987. He loved playing ball, drawing and writing poems, which he won an award for.

In 1987 he met the love of his life; (Dae) Mondy (deceased). From this union came five beautiful blessings whom he cherished: Satrese Victoria, Payton Clifford (deceased), Jory Freeman (deceased), Clarence LaBree and Chris Allen Jr. Chris had 13 grandchildren: Tysen, Ty’Shaye, Tacea, Wanbli, Tyis, Tacien, Jasmine, Julianna, J’Cyan, Carlin, JaMarius, Carsen and one he had yet to meet. Three others called him Dad: Tierra, Chantel and Calene.

Chris worked for the Fort Randall Casino as a line cook and other areas of the restaurant. He loved spending time off with his kids and jamming to AC/DC and other hard rock bands with his brothers. When he came into our family we came to realize that he was more than our in-law, he was our brother, uncle, father, grandfather and friend whom we will all miss.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents Layton and Diane, his sister Mary, his brother Layton Jr, companion Dae and two sons: Payton and Jory.

He leaves to mourn his sisters: LaVonne Patterson Cournoyer and Linda Patterson Medicine Horn; his brothers: Ron and Shane Patterson; his three children: Trese, Clare and Luda; all of his grandchildren, extended McBride family, nieces, nephews and other grandkids too numerous to mention; also his classmates/friends of 1987 (MIS).
